Getaway

I don't know about you guys, but this ridiculously long winter combined with the dreariest "spring" weather is making me want a vacation now more than ever. Combined with the fact that most people are on or have already had their spring break while mine is still two weeks away, I'm definitely ready to jet off to somewhere tropical. Whether you're going on that dream vacation or not, it is always fun to at least pretend, right? So, here's my packing list for my non-existent island vacation weekend getaway.

First things first I need the perfect tote, and preferably one that will take me straight off the plane and straight to the beach. Next, once I'm at the beach I have to look my best because that's obviously where I'll be spending most of my time. I love a good colorful bikini, so this red one with a woven bandeau top is perfection. A great coverup is just as important. I love this black sheer one, I think it will look so cute with the red bikini showing through. Then of course you need to accessorize with a great pair of sunglasses and a hat to shade you from the sun.

Once the sun has set I need something cute and easy to throw on to go for a nice dinner and then whatever else might follow. The first thing that comes to mind is a romper, and this black and white one with pleated shorts is both easy and beautiful. To complete my nighttime look I'll also need a great pair of heels and a cute clutch to carry the necessities. Next, I'll want something super easy to throw on the next day. This white t-shirt dress with cutout detail fits the bill and add these studded flats for a simple and cute outfit.

Insta-Winter

Alright, first of all, sorry for the lack of outfit posts these past couple of weeks. I've gotten caught up in school, I have midterms the next few weeks, and to be honest this continued cold weather has not been very inspiring for getting dressed in the morning. The way this winter has dragged on has made it difficult to try to style the items I've been wearing over and over when all I want to do is wear new spring clothes and enjoy some nicer weather. But, it does seem like it is finally coming to an end, thank goodness. So I thought it would be a good time to wrap up winter by sharing some of my favorite outfit posts from my instagram. I also added a few extra pictures just from some random winter days, which includes an awesome sunset view, the Floating City holiday window display at Barneys, and of course a picture of Bella looking ridiculously adorable. So, I promise there will be more outfit posts next week, but for now make sure to follow me on instagram here

Wanted | Sport-Luxe

One trend I am really loving for spring is sport-luxe. The juxtaposition of sporty elements with classic shapes, colors, and fabrics creates a really cool and fresh look. Whether you go for an understated sport influence, such as a simple striped pant, or a more obvious one, like mesh fabrics and sneakers, you are sure to make a statement this spring. Above, I have planned out two possible outfits fitting the trend. For both I made sure to balance sporty pieces with classic elements such as a white blazer or leather pants. And yes, both outfits happen to be monochromatic as well, but that certainly does not mean you are limited in color choices when it comes to adding sporty styles to your wardrobe. If you are also a fan of this trend shop the above pieces and more below:

The one thing I love about overalls (or jumpsuits, or rompers) is the minimal amount of planning involved. It's an all in one outfit so all you really need to decide is what shoes you want to wear and any other accessories. What I really love about these overalls, in particular, is the fit. While some overalls are just too baggy these fit so perfectly. Honestly, if you were to remove the top part of them they would fit just like the perfect boyfriend jean. These will definitely be a featured player in my spring wardrobe, that is if spring ever actually comes..

Happy first day of spring! Kind of, maybe? I don't know, I just need nice weather to come and actually stay for awhile. Regardless of the weather, though, it is officially spring. And I must say spring brings out the girly girl in me. Something about the warmer weather makes me want to just wear tons of florals and lace and all other super-feminine things. So obviously this white lace shirt fits perfectly into that idea.

While not easy to find, a raincoat is a great thing to own. So when I spotted this silvery-blue jacket I knew I needed to have it. Plus, while this coat will definitely come in handy during those rainy days (gearing up for those April showers) it is also a great light-weight jacket for dryer days as well. And while talking about my outfit I must add that these ripped jeans are amazing. I own a lot of AG jeans, but this pair is probably the comfiest/stretchiest pair I've ever worn, and they held their shape all day. You will definitely see more of these jeans because once the weather decides to stop being so cold I will most likely be wearing these everyday, okay not everyday, but very often.

When all else fails, sometimes no color palette is the best color palette. Seriously, black and white will never fail to make a great, high-contrast outfit. Plus, you don't have to worry about whether all your items of clothing match or not. So, when I saw this black and white vest and Aritzia I knew I needed it for my spring wardrobe. It is the perfect throw on piece to add that special something to any outfit. And don't even get me started on these shoes. I have been waiting so long to finally get to wear them. A leather slip-on with silver pointed cap-toe, I honestly think they might be one of the coolest pairs of shoes ever made. I'm obsessed. They will also be an item in my closet that can be added to any outfit to give it that extra edge.

What I'm Wearing: Pants Mother Denim | Sweater Joie | Boots Vince Camuto

One trend I previously discussed for spring was blush tones, and another big trend is pastel colors. I would say this sweater falls right between both those trends. What I really love about it though is the color blocking, which breaks up all of the pink. As you know, pink is not a color that makes a regular appearance in my wardrobe, so it's gotta be something good to make me pick up something pink. And since pink is a bit out of my color comfort zone I threw on my faux leather pants in order to edge up this baby pink look.

What I'm Wearing: Jeans AG Jeans | Shirt Free People | Jacket Lily Aldridge for Velvet | Boots Freda Salvador

I decided to enjoy the warmer weekend weather by throwing on a lighter coat. It was so enjoyable to not have to bundle up to go outside for a change, I just wish the nice weather would stay for more than one or two days. But I'll take what I can get. Anyways for the occasion I threw on this coat that I have officially stolen from my mom. (She found a very similar alternative she liked better at Aritzia) And to make things interesting I threw on this Free People thermal, which is not only an easy throw-on staple, but it also has awesome plaid cuffs that make it great for layering. I have a few of these shirts, all with different cuffs, just because they are so great to throw on.

Wanted | Blushing

I don't know about you guys, but I am definitely ready for spring. And while part of that is because I'm sick of this freezing weather, the other part of it is that I keep spring shopping, or wanting to shop for spring, and I just want to be able to wear spring clothing already. One of the trends I can't wait to wear this spring is blush tones. The pale pink neutral is everywhere and is the perfect addition to a wardrobe of florals, pastels, and lots of black and white. Shop my blush tone picks below:

What I'm Wearing: Jeans AG Jeans | Sweater Maje, Similar | Coat Similar | Boots Burberry

This coat is yet another find from that wonderful trip to the front hall closet. I really wasn't lying when I said I found a really good collection of coats there. And this one has to be a favorite. It is honestly the softest coat I have ever worn in my whole life, I didn't want to take it off. Of course with a coat this beautiful I had to keep the rest of my outfit simple, so the usual jeans, sweater, and wonderfully awesome burberry boots rounded out the look. And a post entitled Furry Friends would not be complete without the appearance of one of my furry friends, so enjoy the adorable picture of Bella in the snow.
