Lost and Found

Wearing: Jeans 7 For All Mankind | Shirt Theory | Cardigan Michael Stars, Similar | Shoes Chanel

Found this top amongst the dry-cleaning and realized I had yet to blog about it. This was yet another great find at the theory company store. (info about the store here.) I'm loving everything in every shade of blush or beige this fall so this shirt certainly fits the bill. And getting it for 30% off only makes me love it more. Styled really easily with super comfy jeans and the perfect cardigan, it is the perfect look for any day of the week.

Leather-Legged

Wearing: Leggings BCBG | Tee Aritzia | Jacket A.L.C. | Boots Rag & Bone

Nothing quite adds to a basic outfit like a pair of leather leggings. Leather adds that instant cool factor to take any outfit up a notch. I especially love a fun legging like these, which are just leather on the front with a fun wrap-around detail. Pair them with some leather booties and the result is a pair of leather legs that look like they go on forever. Then since I can't seem to part with this jacket (even though it will soon be too cold to wear it) I wrapped it around my waist for the option to wear it later. And the jacket is now on sale, because it is pretty much a proven fact that right after I buy something it will go on sale. It's a curse for me, but a possible blessing for you. Music Monday | Yellow Flicker Beat

I loved Lorde's entire album, from Tennis Court, to Glory and Gore, to Royals, even though it was played one too many times. So a new Lorde song is definitely good news, and I have to say Yellow Flicker Beat surpassed any expectations I had of a new song. It just has that perfect Lorde quality of great lyrics paired with her unmatchably cool sound. And it's for the new Hunger Games movie, which I'm sure will excite a few people as well, though I have not seen any of those movies. (I know, I know, they're great and I should really watch them.. I'll get to it.) But for now I will just be satisfied by playing this song on repeat.

Keep It Simple

Wearing: Jeans Seven for all Mankind | Sweater Vince | Boots Acne Studios

Sweaters, sweaters, sweaters. I'm pretty sure we can all agree the best part of colder weather is piling on the cozy sweaters. And this one is super soft and comfy so it is the perfect fall staple. Then paired with a good pair of loose-fit jeans it makes just a super easy to wear outfit. And lately I am all about just super simple, easy to wear clothes. Because really, why make getting dressed any harder than it has to be?

Peeks Of Plaid

Wearing: Pants Mother Denim | Shirt Equipment, Similar | Sweater Rag & Bone | Boots Vince Camuto

Midterms have turned my brain to mush, so I honestly can't think of anything to write right now. Too much math on the brain to think about anything else. But for now enjoy the photos and shop above and I'll be back with something to say tomorrow.

Easy Layers

Wearing: Dress A.L.C, Similar | Shirt Rails | Jacket IRO | Boots Acne Studios

One thing I love to do in fall is layer an open button-down with an open jacket. I like the effect it creates with the layers just peeking through, especially when done with something patterned like this plaid shirt. It also has a certain ease about it, and I definitely like that because I don't believe in over-complicating the process of getting dressed in the morning. Plus, taking your favorite little black dress from the summer and transitioning into fall is a good way to get more wear out of your favorites.

Music Monday | You Haunt Me

Today's music monday is You Haunt Me by Sir Sly. I was going to try to give you some info about them, but their wikipedia page says little more than that they are "an American Indie Pop band formed and based in Los Angeles, California." So, there's that. But regardless, I absolutely love this song and also I really love their song Gold, which was the first song of theirs that I heard. Plus their debut album You Haunt Me just came out like last week. I haven't listened to it yet but as soon as midterms are over and I can stop stressing for like an hour or two that is exactly what I am going to do. But for now, we can all enjoy the song above.

Mini

Wearing: Skirt Aritzia | Sweater Theory | Shoes Vince Camuto

I'm venturing into the world of skirts once again. This one I picked up purely because it is actually the perfect burgundy color. I just couldn't pass that up. Plus the zip details, the fit, all that, but really just the color. I think it's the perfect fall mini. And then to avoid the cliché of pairing the skirt with white or black I decided to wear it with this blush colored sweater. The heavy-knit not only adds a good color contrast, but also a bit of casualness to the whole outfit. The fact that this sweater is also the comfiest sweater on the whole planet also adds to its appeal. I wish I could wear it everyday without being judged for wearing the same sweater everyday. In fact, I'm seriously debating buying it in gray too because its that soft.

Editorial | Next Big Thing

(Photos from www.whowhatwear.com)

We all know and envy Nicole Richie for her killer style, but now there's another Richie's style we can all covet. The lesser-known (though that's debatable, with half a million instagram followers) sister, Sofia, is only 16 and is already making a name for herself. Not only was she featured in this editorial for WhoWhatWear but she also has a feature on elle.com now as well. (You can view that, here) Sofia's casual-cool, effortless style makes her a favorite among my instagram feed, and this editorial only makes me love her style more. She is definitely one to watch. And of course I want to own every piece of clothing from this editorial, especially the shoes.

Music Monday | Cigarette Daydreams

Today's song stuck in my head is Cigarette Daydreams by Cage the Elephant. I went to see them at Terminal 5 back in May (which I highly recommend doing, they are awesome live) and while I hadn't heard this song before the concert it definitely stuck out to me. So, obviously, the next day I searched to find the song and buy it and it has basically been on repeat every since. And now the video has come out so I figured it'd be perfect for Music Monday.

Leather Essentials

Wearing: Jeans J Brand | Shirt Free People | Jacket IRO | Boots Saint Laurent

My recent posts have all talked about must-have items for fall, but what's fall without a good leather jacket? I think it's a pretty important piece to have, and finding the perfect one is not always easy. Since real leather is almost always going to be an investment piece, it has to be something you love. And, of course, as soon as I put this jacket on I knew I needed to own it. The perfect jacket can add so much to any outfit. I wore it really simply with jeans and a black shirt, and yet the hardware and detailing on the jacket are enough to make this outfit something special.

Shop this jacket and others below

Also, from now until October 24th, if you purchase the Knit Dress or Jacket from the Marchesa Voyage for ShopStyle collection you can get the scarf for free by using the code SCARF. Shop the collection here.

High Necks and High Heels

Wearing: Jeans J Brand | Shirt Theory | Sweater Aritzia | Boots Saint Laurent

I think fall is probably my favorite season. I thoroughly enjoy trading in shorts for jeans and piling on the sweaters. There's not much I love more than high-necks and boots. I especially love that this shirt is a turtle-neck tank top, which makes it the ultimate layering piece. And while most days I opt for flats, it's always fun to wear a heel every once in a while (and to see what the world looks like a few inches higher, #shortpeopleproblems).

Fall Transitions

What I'm Wearing: Jeans AG | Sweater Rag & Bone | Jacket A.L.C.also love this one | Shoes Chanel

In my opinion, the key to surviving fall lies in a good jacket. Or, more likely, in a few good jackets. (Who could pick just one?) I love the leather detailing and hardware on this jacket in particular. Plus, it is the perfect lightweight transition piece for these warm one minute, cold the next type days. Layered over the perfect basic sweater and paired with some destroyed denim, it is the easiest way to stay comfortable and look good this fall.

Music Monday | Top Notch

This week I thought I'd share one of my favorite songs, Top Notch by Manchester Orchestra. And, no, you are not experiencing a glitch the video above is a just a black screen with audio. It's actually the only good video I could find with the acoustic version of the song. I, personally like the acoustic version of this song better than the original. (But feel free to listen to the original, here, and decide for yourself.) I heard the acoustic version first in a radio exclusive and fell in love with it. I didn't even realize at first that there was another version of this song until I went to buy it. Luckily for me though, the band just released an entire acoustic album, Hope, with this song on it.

All Tied Up

Wearing: Jeans Seven For All Mankind | Tank Theory | Sweater Vince | Boots Acne Studios

Judging by my posts this week, it seems I have decided to quit wearing shirts in favor of just tying them around my waist. Kidding, sort of. It is the perfect way to wear those sweaters that its still just a little too warm for. (Although, it won't be like that much longer.) And then there's the jeans. Literally the perfect boyfriend fit. They start out a little tight in the morning (as seen in this photo) but in just an hour or two they are the perfect baggy pair.
