A good skirt is the ultimate versatile piece. Pair it with any top in your closet to make a completely new look. For this look I paired this awesome skirt with a red sweater, making it perfect for the holidays. Shop other skirts below:

Give Me Space

Wearing: Sweatshirt Reformation | Skirt Maje, SimilarSimilar | Sneakers Nike

It was impossible to pass up this adorable spacey sweatshirt that reads "give me space".  And it is just as amazingly comfy as it looks. I love the idea of taking a sweatshirt and making it something other than strictly casual wear. Paired with a suede skirt and sneakers, it's the perfect mix of comfy and cute.

Burnt

Wearing: Skirt Intermix | Tank Intermix | Shoes Vince Camuto

Trying to wear new fall styles is a bit difficult when we are in the middle of yet another heat wave. However, it's easy to work in fall colors and textures while it's still hot out. Take the suede skirt, easily wearable from now well into the fall, just pair it with a tank now and a sweater later. And don't be afraid to do head to toe of one color, (in this case, burnt orange) mixing textures helps to make it all work together.

Suede and Studs

Wearing: Skirt Maje | Tee Vince, Similar | Shoes Ted Baker, Similar

I'm usually not much of a mini-skirt kinda girl, however, every once in a while I fall in love with one I need to have. And as I previously shared, (here) I have been obsessed with skirts lately as well as anything and everything suede. So this skirt fit the bill, and the studded belt detail sealed the deal. Perfect dressed up, or down as seen here with a basic tee.

Take Two

Wearing: Skirt Helmut Lang | Sweater Vince | Scarf Burberry | Boots Acne Studios

Take two, on both the skirt and the sweater. It's always a good idea to have multiple ways to wear the items in your closet.

Mini

Wearing: Skirt Aritzia | Sweater Theory | Shoes Vince Camuto

I'm venturing into the world of skirts once again. This one I picked up purely because it is actually the perfect burgundy color. I just couldn't pass that up. Plus the zip details, the fit, all that, but really just the color. I think it's the perfect fall mini. And then to avoid the cliché of pairing the skirt with white or black I decided to wear it with this blush colored sweater. The heavy-knit not only adds a good color contrast, but also a bit of casualness to the whole outfit. The fact that this sweater is also the comfiest sweater on the whole planet also adds to its appeal. I wish I could wear it everyday without being judged for wearing the same sweater everyday. In fact, I'm seriously debating buying it in gray too because its that soft.

Foreign Territory

Wearing: Skirt Helmut Langalso love this leather version | Tee Aritzia | Boots Acne Studios | Sunglasses Saint Laurent

As a girl who could happily wear a pair of jeans everyday for the rest of life, skirts are pretty much foreign territory. But, while shopping I decided I wanted skirts for this fall, and now I'm trying to fit them into my wardrobe in a way that doesn't feel too foreign. So, for me, that means dressing it down with a simple tee and some boots (perhaps the most important item in one's fall wardrobe). Then as it gets colder I plan to swap a tee for a sweater to wear this awesome multi-layered skirt as many times as I can.

And by the way, how awesome is the photo of me and my puppy gang? I think it should be the next Christmas card, but unfortunately my sister's not in it. (I think it can still work.)

K?

What I'm Wearing: Skirt Helmut LangSimilar | Tee Aritzia | Shoes Vince

I very rarely, in fact almost never, go for bodycon anything. However, every once in a while when I'm feeling crazy I pick up something extremely form-fitting. This skirt is one of those rare purchases. Perhaps influenced by an upcoming trip to Puerto Rico (I bought this back in March or April), I bought this skirt. And while it is a piece in my closet that is a bit out of my comfort zone I really do love the asymmetry, color, and overall look of this skirt. So, for that reason, I decided to take it out for another spin, this time opting for a white tee for a more casual look. (Here's the last time I wore it.) Now I have one last question, since I'm wearing a mid-length asymmetrical bodycon skirt, am I ready to be a Kardashian yet?

DIY Plaid Skirt

What I'm Wearing: Plaid Shirt Rails | Shirt Splendid | Boots Zara, Similar

I bought a lot of plaid this past season, but the one item I didn't buy was a plaid skirt. And though in the back of my head I was wanting one, I kept choosing other items instead. But then I found some internet inspiration and decided to make my own plaid skirt using my favorite plaid shirt. It's very simple. All I did was button up the shirt part way (I did about 3/4 of the way up for a higher waist, but button as many as you'd like) and then I just folded the top part down and tied the arms. The result, a plaid skirt that resembles the dressed down look of having a shirt tied around your waist. And then a simple black shirt keeps the look nice and simple.

What I'm Wearing: Skirt Free People, Similar | Tank 3.1 Phillip Lim | Jacket Townsen | Shoes Vince Camuto, Similar

Last week I went to a Phillip Lim sample sale and it was so good. Definitely a little chaotic, but really fun, and I walked away with three shirts. (All plaid, oops.) This tank is one of them, and I just love the washed out color of the plaid. Since it was on the longer side I knew I wanted to try it out with a skirt. I also wanted to add a cool sporty touch so I brought out my leather baseball jacket. Oh, and please excuse the giant rip in the side of my tights. You really shouldn't wear rings while putting on tights, nothing good can come of it.

What I'm Wearing: Skirt Zara | Sweatshirt Townsen | Boots Zara

I decided to take my skort out for one last hurrah before I'll have to put on tights with it, or any skirt for that matter. It was a little chilly out, so I decided to balance my bare legs with a sweatshirt on top. I really love the leather trim on the arms and neck on this sweatshirt, it adds something special to an otherwise plain gray sweatshirt. And my new Zara boots complete the outfit.

P.S. I'm currently listening to Lorde's new album, it's so freaking amazing. I highly recommend it.

Think Pink

Never thought I would make a post dedicated to the color pink... But I have to admit, pale shades of pink are are on trend for fall and winter, and I've found myself actually wanting to wear pink. This is very strange for me as I maybe own a max of 1 pink item of clothing, but some of these items are too good to pass up. I particularly love the pink moto skirt and leather jacket, it's the ultimate contradiction, baby pinks combined with the toughest motorcycle shapes and details. And that pink plaid cape is amazing, and I've been finding it hard to say no to anything plaid lately. Of course, fall is not complete without a good sweater so I will definitely be looking to add a nice pale pink sweater to my closet. Shop these items below:

What I'm Wearing: Skirt Aritzia | Sweater Aritzia | Booties Tory Burch

You know it's fall when the sunglasses finally come off.. But really the weather is starting to cool down and we have officially entered fall, or at least pre-fall. And pre-fall is the perfect time to channel school girl vibes with skirts and plaids. A fuzzy plaid sweater, such as this one which is ridiculously soft, is the perfect piece to keep you warm. While a cute skirt keeps you from dying of heat once you step into the sun. And the perfect pair of booties complete any outfit.
