The best way to get more use out of your favorite pieces is to layer them. Slip dresses, which are very on trend for this summer, make a great base for tons of layering options. For a warmer day a button-up tee worn open is a great way to layer while still keeping cool.

Gray Day
I absolutely love this sleeveless sweater, but the challenge is, of course, wearing it when its freezing outside. So I went with the obvious solution, layering. And because color might as well not exist this fall (let's face it I don't think I've worn a color other than gray, black, or beige lately), I opted for a tone on tone look with a gray shirt layered underneath. I like the way it looks, and I especially like the high slits on either side that give an extra peek at the layered pieces.

Lost and Found
Found this top amongst the dry-cleaning and realized I had yet to blog about it. This was yet another great find at the theory company store. (info about the store here.) I'm loving everything in every shade of blush or beige this fall so this shirt certainly fits the bill. And getting it for 30% off only makes me love it more. Styled really easily with super comfy jeans and the perfect cardigan, it is the perfect look for any day of the week.

Peeks Of Plaid
Midterms have turned my brain to mush, so I honestly can't think of anything to write right now. Too much math on the brain to think about anything else. But for now enjoy the photos and shop above and I'll be back with something to say tomorrow.

Easy Layers
One thing I love to do in fall is layer an open button-down with an open jacket. I like the effect it creates with the layers just peeking through, especially when done with something patterned like this plaid shirt. It also has a certain ease about it, and I definitely like that because I don't believe in over-complicating the process of getting dressed in the morning. Plus, taking your favorite little black dress from the summer and transitioning into fall is a good way to get more wear out of your favorites.

Leather Essentials
My recent posts have all talked about must-have items for fall, but what's fall without a good leather jacket? I think it's a pretty important piece to have, and finding the perfect one is not always easy. Since real leather is almost always going to be an investment piece, it has to be something you love. And, of course, as soon as I put this jacket on I knew I needed to own it. The perfect jacket can add so much to any outfit. I wore it really simply with jeans and a black shirt, and yet the hardware and detailing on the jacket are enough to make this outfit something special.
Shop this jacket and others below
Also, from now until October 24th, if you purchase the Knit Dress or Jacket from the Marchesa Voyage for ShopStyle collection you can get the scarf for free by using the code SCARF. Shop the collection here.

High Necks and High Heels
I think fall is probably my favorite season. I thoroughly enjoy trading in shorts for jeans and piling on the sweaters. There's not much I love more than high-necks and boots. I especially love that this shirt is a turtle-neck tank top, which makes it the ultimate layering piece. And while most days I opt for flats, it's always fun to wear a heel every once in a while (and to see what the world looks like a few inches higher, #shortpeopleproblems).

Blue On Blue
Sorry about the total lack of posts. I have no excuses except for the fact that summer seems to bring out the laziness in me, and in my outfit selections. But every once in a while I put something nice together. Like this cute and easy blue on blue ensemble. Which, of course, is paired with my birks since I haven't taken them off since I've bought them and my feet are super happy with that.

Helmut
What I'm Wearing: Shirt Helmut Lang | Shorts J Brand
Here's just a quick post of this really cute shirt I picked up at the Theory Company Store the other day. If you've never been I recommend checking it out. They have current season Theory clothing (and some Helmut Lang and other random pieces) for 30% off. It's a little bit hidden but you can just google it and find the address. Sorry for the selfie filled post but I just wanted to show you guys this shirt. Back to real pictures soon. (Hopefully.)

Contrast
So I've finally put on shorts (well actually these pictures are from Memorial Day so I gave in a while ago). And I even went swimming, kind of. Anyways, I really love these shorts because lately I'm only into wearing things that are at least slightly high-waisted so these shorts are perfect. Plus the super light wash is so awesome too. Then there's the shirt, which I fell in love with the first time I saw it and I knew I had to have it. And even though it's a regular button-down I knew I wanted to wear it open to give it a more casual feel for summer. Lastly, there's the shoes, which were basically my way of giving in to the whole slide trend without actually giving in to the slide trend, if that makes sense. But it doesn't matter anyway because now I've got my eyes on something like these, which would be really giving in.

Asymmetry
There is nothing better than a great sale find, and this J Brand shirt is no exception. An amazing score off the sale rack, this shirt is just too cool. I love the asymmetry of it, it's so different from anything I've ever seen. And I kept everything else simple because this shirt definitely makes a statement on its own.

Stolen
What I'm Wearing: Jeans J Brand | Shirt Elizabeth and James, Similar | Jacket Elizabeth and James | Shoes Miu Miu | Sunglasses Saint Laurent
This jacket might just be my most amazing sample sale find yet. This jacket retailed for $1,295, and I got it for, drum roll please, $250. If I was good at percents, or if I wasn't too lazy to reach for a calculator I would tell you just how great of a steal that was, but I think it's pretty easy to see that it was quite a deal. And I am seriously in love with this jacket. I mean, it looks like the world's most awesome DIY project, but it required no effort whatsoever. It definitely makes a statement, no matter what you wear it with too. It's a piece that makes an outfit, which is always a good piece to have for days where you just don't want to try too hard but still want to look good.
