Music Monday | Electric Love

Electric Love by Borns has basically been stuck in my head since the first time I ever heard it. It's pretty much the sweetest song ever and it's just one of those songs that makes you happy when you listen to it. I posted the acoustic version because I love Zella Day and her and Borns singing this song together is just amazing. If you want to hear the original version, click here.

The Basics

Wearing: Jeans J Brand | Sweater Maje, Similar | Tank IRO | Coat The Kooples | Boots Miu Miu | Sunglasses Fendi

At this point of winter I've worn all my clothes to death and it is just too cold outside. And rather than investing in more winter clothes all I want is clothes for spring. So, basically, my wardrobe has gotten pretty stale. My solution is just to embrace my basics. By layering my go-to gray sweater with a new distressed tank it adds a little bit more to an otherwise dull outfit. Plus, wearing my new sunglasses (which I am obsessed with) adds a fun element and a pop of color.

Music Monday | Come a Little Closer

So the Grammy Awards were last night, and while I loved most of the fashion, (especially Taylor SwiftBeyonce, Ariana Grande, and Haim) I can't say I agreed with most of the awards given out. I mean, for one, how did Taylor Swift not win a single award for Shake it Off. Seriously, every time that songs comes on I dance. But I'm almost okay with that, because I know she has next year to win awards on the rest of her album. However, the band I feel was truly robbed was Cage the Elephant, who definitely should have taken the Grammy for best Alternative Album. Melophobia is a really great album that I highly suggest you listen to, starting with the song above.

Over-Embellished

Wearing: Dress Free People | Boots Acne Studios

I normally wouldn't pick a beaded dress as an everyday item, however, after falling in love with this Saint Laurent dress in a catalog I decided I needed one in my closet. Then it was just a matter of finding one for less than $5,000. Luckily, I stumbled upon this dress while browsing the Free People website. I love the beading combined with the gorgeous embroidery along the neck and hem. And, if I wanted to dress it down a bit more, I would probably just throw on a long black cardigan to cover some of the beading to make it more daytime appropriate. But then again, covering this up would be a shame, so maybe we should just embrace fully embellished looks for everyday wear..

Music Monday | Through The Dark

Sorry for the lack of posts last week. It was my first week of classes, and then there was a blizzard (or at least the threat of a blizzard). So, hopefully this week will be a little less chaotic, and I promise I have some outfit posts for you. But before that, here's The Mowgli's to help get your week started. And if you want more, check out this song too.
