Striped Basics

As you probably know by now, I am a huge fan of easy-to-wear basics. And a classic striped shirt is the perfect throw on piece for simple outfits that don't feel too plain. Paired with ripped jeans and slip-ons it's a super easy outfit solution for these (horrible) colder days. 

Stripes//Stripes

What I'm Wearing: Shorts Rag & Bone | Tee Vince | Shoes Proenza Schouler

I was trying to make a post about this outfit but I found in all the pictures I am being upstaged by my dogs. I mean look at Bella's ears in that second picture. I just can't compete. But, if by any chance you can take your eyes of of my dogs, you can see my outfit. It's really just another super casual summer look with a little pattern on pattern. The pattern on the shorts, however, is very light and hard to capture in a picture. But they are vertically striped with some floral pattern on them, which I like to pair with this striped shirt (because I actually just wear this striped shirt everyday). 

Pattern Mixing

It's fun to experiment with mixing prints and patterns. It's especially easy when done with neutral colors so you can avoid the whole "do these colors work?" dilemma. And simple prints are going to be easier to mix too, so basically stripes + anything can most likely work. But obviously it will take some trial and error to get it just right.

All In One

What I'm Wearing: Overalls Paige | Shirt Aqua, Similar | Shoes Miu Miu

The one thing I love about overalls (or jumpsuits, or rompers) is the minimal amount of planning involved. It's an all in one outfit so all you really need to decide is what shoes you want to wear and any other accessories. What I really love about these overalls, in particular, is the fit. While some overalls are just too baggy these fit so perfectly. Honestly, if you were to remove the top part of them they would fit just like the perfect boyfriend jean. These will definitely be a featured player in my spring wardrobe, that is if spring ever actually comes..

Rain or Shine

While not easy to find, a raincoat is a great thing to own. So when I spotted this silvery-blue jacket I knew I needed to have it. Plus, while this coat will definitely come in handy during those rainy days (gearing up for those April showers) it is also a great light-weight jacket for dryer days as well. And while talking about my outfit I must add that these ripped jeans are amazing. I own a lot of AG jeans, but this pair is probably the comfiest/stretchiest pair I've ever worn, and they held their shape all day. You will definitely see more of these jeans because once the weather decides to stop being so cold I will most likely be wearing these everyday, okay not everyday, but very often.

First of all, sorry for the total lack of posts last week. I got sick and my brain turned off and I legitimately just forgot to post. But, anyway, I'm sure everyone can agree with me that spring could not come soon enough. I am so done with winter, all I want to do is buy spring clothes and actually get to wear them. But since there's still snow on the ground I did the next best thing. I took an item from my spring shopping, this Joie striped tank, and I winterized it by adding a turtleneck underneath. And while I do love the look, I'd much prefer to be wearing this tank with a pair of jeans and no coat, or better yet, with some shorts. But until then.. 

Sweater Dress

What I'm Wearing: Dress French Connection | Coat The Kooples | Boots Tory Burch

Can you believe how ridiculously nice out is was on Saturday? (Which is when I took these pictures) I mean seriously I was outside with three-quarter sleeves and no coat and I wasn't even cold! It was such a tease, but I'll take it. Anyways, I found this dress in my closet which I bought probably two years ago and I'm seriously wondering why I haven't been wearing it all this time. It's so easy to wear and it's versatile. I rolled up the bottom and wore it as a shirt later that day. Two-for-one is always a nice bonus. 

Beige Suede Shoes

What I'm Wearing: Jeans Hudson | Sweater Zara | Shoes Vince

In case I left you in suspense after my last encounter with a turtleneck (here), the answer is yes, I will be buying/wearing more turtlenecks. Turns out, I quite like them. Especially this one with the transparent stripes and its loose comfortable fit. The real star of the outfit, though has to be my blue, I mean, beige suede shoes. Besides the fact that they are beyond comfortable, they also look good with just about anything. Which is good because I plan on wearing them with just about everything. And yes, if you were wondering, I did sing Elvis the entire time I was taking these pictures.

Stylish Sweats

What I'm Wearing: Pants Solow | Sweater Aqua | Shoes Chanel

Alright, I am officially in fall mode. After a full week of sweaters I've officially retired shorts and I'm ready for fall. So what better way to celebrate fall than with the coolest, comfiest, softest, stylish sweatpants. I kept the sweatpants casual with a striped sweater and my espadrilles. Although I do plan on trying to dress these sweatpants up later, so keep an eye out for them again. 

P.S. Who is ridiculously excited for fall TV? I've already got Bones, Castle, and Criminal Minds, and Homeland premieres on Sunday. YESS! (I watch a lot of tv)

Lost And Found

What I'm Wearing: Shorts Guess, Similar | Sweater Aqua | Shoes BCBGeneration, Similar

My closet can be a pretty wonderful place, but sometimes it can also act like a black hole. Things just get lost in there. Like these shorts, which are probably 3 years old, they were found at the back of my closet the other day. And I'm so mad I forgot about them because they are so cute and I should have been wearing them all this time but I wasn't. But, anyways, I've found them now. I really love the contrast of the subtle plaid pattern of the shorts against the bolder stripes of the sweater. It's like a nice quieter attempt at a pattern on pattern. 

Great Lengths

What I'm Wearing: Dress Red Haute | Shirt Red Haute | Shoes Steve Madden

Normally I don't really play with length. I usually keep it short because I'm petite and that's what I know works. But when I found this dress I just fell in love. I kind of just love the odd length of it, and the best part, it's ruched so if I want to I can just pull it up and make it shorter. And then I just threw this shirt over it for a more casual look. (Although my mom gets styling credit for picking out the shirt) I must say, I went shopping the other day and oh my goodness, I cannot wait for fall. Even now I'm picturing this same dress with a long sleeve sweater and some booties, mmm, so perfect.
