Blue Velvet

Going into the fall I knew I wanted a lot of velvet in my wardrobe. And more specifically, I knew I wanted a pair of blue velvet booties. Finding them at an affordable price point was a challenge, but I finally found these French Connection boots, which I am completely in love with. When I wear them I typically like to let them be the star of my look, so for this outfit I paired them with a simple black dress layered over a black long sleeve tee with white stitching.

Shoes Chanel

I wasn't really sure the neckerchief was a trend that I would ever take on, or that I even owned a scarf that could pull off the look. But, when I spotted this geometric printed square scarf I knew I had to give it a try. I love how this particular scarf has a combination of patterns on it so I can even fold it different ways and get a slightly different look. And I really do love the look, it's much easier to wear than I thought it would be. However, I will say that an 80 degree weather day probably wasn't the best day to test out wearing a scarf..

Sweater Dress

Can you believe how ridiculously nice out is was on Saturday? (Which is when I took these pictures) I mean seriously I was outside with three-quarter sleeves and no coat and I wasn't even cold! It was such a tease, but I'll take it. Anyways, I found this dress in my closet which I bought probably two years ago and I'm seriously wondering why I haven't been wearing it all this time. It's so easy to wear and it's versatile. I rolled up the bottom and wore it as a shirt later that day. Two-for-one is always a nice bonus. 

Clothes For Thought | Now Trending

This is my first attempt at a digital version of a Clothes For Thought collage. And while it came out better than expected, I definitely prefer cutting pictures out of magazines and gluing them to paper. There's something about having the pictures in your hand that makes putting together a collage so fun. But, that's not to say I won't try photoshop again. Anyway, I made this collage as an ode to all the fall trends we love so much. Pretty pinks, perfect plaids, simple sweatshirts, lots of leopard, and anything cozy to keep warm. And yes, the quote was meant to be a bit ironic. 

Fashion icons are consistently telling us not to follow trends and to be ourselves but at the same time we look up to them for following and sometimes creating those very trends they don't want us to follow. My advice, don't count out trends. Never put something down because everyone's wearing it. If you love it wear it. I love being inspired by what others are wearing. I don't think of it as copying them, it's purely inspiration. Just take the trend and do it your own way. What I'm Wearing: Shorts Zara | Tank French Connection | Shoes Kurt Geiger

If only I had this outfit for the Fourth of July, huh? I really love this shirt though, it just feels so summery and fun to me. And these white shorts, I got way more use out of them this summer then I ever thought I would. Such a great summer staple. The white shoes, too. Perfect for adding a touch of sophistication to a summer look. 

Matchy-Matchy

Like I said yesterday, I'm very into bright colors lately. I fell in love with these shorts when I saw them in a catalog. They have a matching blazer too, which I would love to have, but at the same time it's too damn hot for a blazer! Maybe if it goes on a really good sale I would get it. Speaking of sales, these shorts are currently half off at Bloomingdales, go get em. And it just so happened to work out perfectly that I had this tank already in my closet that matches. Of course I also had to work in my neon shoes, I just love them so much. It's very pink, very matchy, and I love it.

How fun are these shorts? For some reason I've been navigating toward like extremely bright colors and I kind of love it. They are just so fun for summer. And the print on these shorts was too good to resist. Plus they're super comfy. I really want a neon yellow shirt to wear with them for ultimate brightness, but until I find the right color I will wear them with black. But to keep from wearing just a boring black tank I put on this Free People tank with a lace back for a little added surprise. So summery, now if only I could get just a little bit of tan, that'd be even better. 

All Black Everything

Alright, so I love French Connection but it's pretty pricey so it's one of those brands I have a few special pieces from that I love and will keep for years. This shirt is one of those pieces. I bought it a few years ago because I thought it was the coolest shirt ever. From far away its just a black tee, and then you realize it has all these amazing details like the embellished shoulders and the fringe up the front and back of the shirt. I put it with my Free People vegan leather shorts, which are awesome to dress up or down and black sandals for an all black look. But then for just a little pop of color I wore my pink Chanel sunglasses.

A Saturday Adventure and A Sunday Dream Wishlist

Alright, I know there's nothing fashionable about this, I'm wearing leggings and a tee but I had to share. My dad and I went on a hike at Buttermilk Falls in Nyack, NY, and though we got a bit lost it was tons of fun. And I do love my cute little backpack (Target) and my awesome new bright blue Nikes. 

Now onto something a bit more fashionable.

Hmm, I see a black and white trend here. I can't help it it's just so damn chic. But anyways these are items that are so beautiful and amazing and I would love to own them one day when I'm successful but for now they are far out of reach. I've been in love with the Chanel Espadrilles for a while now, that leather tip, to die for. And when I came across those amazing Chanel sneakers, the detail, no words. Yes, I'm a Chanel girl, I own nothing from them but 2 pairs of sunglasses but if I had to I could live in everything they make, so chic, so timeless, ugh. And then the blazer is French Connection. It is slightly more accessible than the Chanel shoes but still it would take some saving. But it truly is the perfect blazer, in my mind at least. So take some time to drool over these items like I have, and then tomorrow I'll tell you about the shopping gold mine I hit on Friday.

Don't Slouch

What I'm Wearing: Pants Asos | Tank French Connection | Shoes Lumiani

On second thought, do slouch. Normally I stick to a strict tight fitting pants rule, skinny jeans, leggings, etc. But when I saw this trend I decided to try it. Not only are these pants super comfy they also have amazing stripe detail and a cute little fake pocket in the back. And to top it all off they also look so good dressed up with a heel.
