Another one of my favorite looks this fall is the statement sleeve. I especially love this top which combines a bell sleeve with a tie detail. I paired it with a pair of Vetements inspired jeans, found at the last place I thought to look, the Gap. Blackout

Wearing: Shorts A.L.C. | Top A.L.C. | Shoes Givenchy

I fell in love with this top the moment I saw it. I have a thing for mock necks, and that along with the crochet knit made it pretty hard to pass up. To make it more wearable for daytime I layered a bralette underneath so it doesn't have such a plunging neckline and I added a pair of slides to keep it casual. 

When In Doubt..

When in doubt, all black always works. With this all black look I really like how the open-knit sweater adds a nice break in the monochromatic outfit. I love this top layered over a bralette because it allows you to see the pattern better. Plus, with a high neck and high waisted jeans it shows a bit of skin without being over the top. But, of course, for more modesty you can easily layer a black tank under an open knit as well. 

Fall Short

I had thought shorts season was over until I found these amazing suede ones. I figure shorts work the same as a mini skirt, wear them like this now, add over the knee boots or tights and a long sleeve shirt later. 

Pinstriped

It has been super hot out, which basically means simple pieces that are easy to wear. So for me, that's the perfect pair of white denim shorts and a pinstriped tank. You may also notice there's something different about my feet. That's right, I've finally embraced the Birkenstock. Now, this is not because I suddenly believe that Birks are super cute or anything like that, but as long as they are being accepted as a sartorial staple this summer I might as well give my feet a break. And my feet have never been happier. 

Tropical Details

Sometimes simple is better. Especially when simple pieces have little details that help make them special. Like these shorts, classic black shorts, but the leather detailing gives them just a hint of an edge. And then there's the top, cute white blouse from afar, but the shoulder detailing makes it even better. And a simple outfit gives the accessories some time to shine, like some statement yellow wedges and the cutest tropical printed clutch, which are perfect for summer. 

Exposed

I'm usually a more conservative dresser, I don't often go for things cut really low, or that show too much skin. However, from the moment I spotted this shirt I knew I had to have it. It definitely is out of my comfort zone a bit, what with the low front and the pretty much completely exposed back, but I wore it anyway and I felt so good. Even when items might not be what you're used to, you've got to admit, when you feel good, you feel good. And most times you look good as well. So, suffice it to say this shirt will definitely be worn many times this summer. 

Neutral Territory

By the time you are reading this I will be on a plane to South Africa. AHH! I'm so excited! But fear not, I have queued up some posts for while I'm gone. And you can follow along with my trip by following my instagram (@melissapaigee). But, back to the outfit. This one is certainly a rarity for me, as I am not usually one to show off my stomach but I just loved the idea of a crop top, high waisted jeans, and a long sweater so I had to try it out. And I threw my new hat on top, which I am absolutely in love with, especially since it's the only hat that I could find that fits my little head. 

White Lace

Happy first day of spring! Kind of, maybe? I don't know, I just need nice weather to come and actually stay for awhile. Regardless of the weather, though, it is officially spring. And I must say spring brings out the girly girl in me. Something about the warmer weather makes me want to just wear tons of florals and lace and all other super-feminine things. So obviously this white lace shirt fits perfectly into that idea. 

When All Else Fails..

When all else fails, wear all black. You really can't go wrong, it matches, it's slimming, it just always works. Of course in the summer black on black could get a little hot, but we all make sacrifices in the name of fashion, right? Seriously, though, this little $11 crop top I picked up at the beginning of the summer could be one of my greatest purchases. It works with everything. Perfect with shorts, skirts, overalls, and when worn well, shows just enough skin without being over the top. 

Oreo Fashion

What I'm Wearing: Skirt Topshop | Top ASOS | Shoes Converse | Necklaces Kate Spade

Originally I planned to do an all white outfit with this skirt, but then I realized I didn't have a white shirt. So, instead this outfit became another black and white outfit, or Oreo fashion. And I love Oreos so I'm totally cool with dressing like one. I wore my new Topshop lace skirt which is the perfect summer piece with my new hi-top Converse. I've never had hi-tops before and I kind of love them, they are so different for me, but super fun. Since no outfit is complete without some jewels I put on two necklaces I got for my birthday (thanks mom!) and I love how the floral necklace adds some color to the outfit. I also love how the light caught my necklace in one of the pictures and it looks like it has super powers. ;)
